Spokane Sport Horse Farms hosted its 9th Annual Spring Horse Trials with riders from across participating. Here’s a quick recap of the event:
– Thursday featured the USEA Young Event Horse divisions with a derby-style course on the cross-country.
– Friday’s dressage faced some challenges due to wind, but overall successful.
– Saturday’s weather provided exceptional conditions for the cross-country events.
– Sunday had an incredible turnout for show jumping with a specially designed course.
Notable highlights and winners from the competition:
– Addisyn Parahoniak and Michelle Stewarts’ 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding, ADR’s Fausto, won Best Junior Dressage score with a 27.7.
– Spokane Sport Horse’s own bred 6-year-old Westphalian mare Pillow Talk SSH, aka ‘Spicy’, placed second.
– The lowest combined score, 24.3, was achieved by Chris Gianini riding her own 12-year-old Thoroughbred mare, Breezie McDuff. This pair also won the SSHF Vintage Combo Award with a combined age of 88 years.
– Sophie Click and her 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding, Tarantino 54, won the Advanced/Intermediate Division.
– Sarah Sullivan won the twenty-four horse Modified Division with a 26.5, adding only 1.2-time penalties on cross-country.
– Sarah Buehler, riding Orion’s Shining Star, won the Junior Novice Division, completing on her dressage score of 28.1.
There were a total of 293 dressage tests, and the event ran smoothly thanks to volunteers.
Looking ahead, Spokane Sport Horse is preparing for its Fall Horse Trials, Classic Three Day, and FEI Event on September 26th-29th, 2024.
Exciting venue improvements and enhanced experiences are also in store for the 2024 USEA Recognized Horse Trials at Huntington Farm in South Strafford, Vermont.
The USEA Interscholastic Eventing League (IEL) received a boost when the Spokane Sport Horse Spring H.T. hosted 43 fifth through 12th-grade competitors in their first-ever IEL Team Challenge in Spokane, Washington.
Overall, it was a successful and thrilling weekend with impressive performances. Looking forward to the future for these talented riders and their magnificent horses!
