Canal+ Renews Partnership with beIN Sports to Air Weekly Ligue 1 Matches

– Canal+ has renewed its broadcasting agreement with beIN Sports, allowing Canal+ subscribers access to one Ligue 1 match per week.
– The deal was announced on August 13, with the first match featuring Brest vs. Olympique de Marseille on August 17.
– In 2029, DAZN acquired rights to eight out of nine Ligue 1 matches per day, worth an average of €400 million annually, while beIN secured one match for €100 million.
– The renewed partnership simplifies access to premium sports content without extra costs for subscribers with beIN Sports packages.
– Canal+ has had tensions with the Ligue de football professionnel (LFP) due to prior negotiations where Amazon was chosen over Canal+ after Mediapro’s failure in 2020.
