TV Rights: beIN and DAZN Compete for Serie A Broadcast in France

**TV Rights: beIN and DAZN Compete for Serie A Broadcast in France**

After months of uncertainty surrounding French Ligue 1 broadcasting, an agreement was finally reached on July 31. However, the rights to Serie A broadcasts in France remain unresolved, raising concerns about potential blackout for fans as the league restarts this weekend.

– **Current Situation:** Negotiations are ongoing, primarily between beIN Sports and DAZN.
– **beIN Sports’ Strategy:** The Qatari network aims to reduce costs for the Serie A rights, which it has held since 2018. Although beIN hasn’t confirmed plans to withdraw, it reportedly has less urgency for these rights.
– **DAZN’s Interest:** Known as the ‘Netflix of sports,’ DAZN, which holds Serie A rights in Italy, is eager to enhance its French offerings, which already include many Ligue 1 matches and other sports.
– **Other Potential Bidders:** Prime Video shows no interest, and Canal+ appears distant despite previous speculation.

With the first Serie A matches of the 2024-2025 season set for this Saturday at 6:30 PM, a resolution is urgently needed.
