Elon Musk Open to Serving in Trump’s Cabinet Potentially

Former President Donald Trump indicated that he would welcome Elon Musk into his administration if re-elected. During a campaign event in Pennsylvania, Trump praised Musk as a “brilliant guy” and suggested he could be offered a position either in an advisory capacity or a cabinet role. The two have reportedly strengthened their relationship, discussing topics such as the U.S. Space Force and cryptocurrency policy.

Musk publicly endorsed Trump’s presidential campaign following an assassination attempt against Trump and has been involved in political action efforts through the America PAC, which focuses on voter mobilization and is under scrutiny for its practices.

In a recent interview, Musk expressed his willingness to serve in a government capacity, proposing to lead a potential Department of Government Efficiency, humorously acronymized as DOGE, after his favorite cryptocurrency. He reiterated this commitment in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In a Trump administration, shifts in policy could occur regarding electric vehicles (EVs). Trump is likely to repeal many previous regulations and tax incentives for EVs, despite acknowledging that eliminating federal tax credits could hinder overall EV sales. However, Musk has stated that removing subsidies may benefit Tesla in the long term by disadvantaging its competitors.
