Ligue 1 Broadcasting Agreement Established Among Canal+, DAZN, and beIN Sports

A new broadcasting agreement for Ligue 1 has been reached involving Canal+, DAZN, and beIN Sports. Key points include:

– Starting next season, Ligue 1 will be available on Canal+ as part of a partnership with DAZN, the new primary rights holder.
– Canal+ announced on August 13 that DAZN’s streaming service will be offered at the same price as standalone subscriptions: €29.99 per month with a one-year commitment or €39.99 without.
– Canal+ also renewed its partnership with beIN Sports, featuring one major Ligue 1 match every Saturday at 5 PM at no extra cost to subscribers.
– The collaboration aims to provide a wider range of quality content under a single subscription, which benefits both the leagues and clubs in France.
– DAZN secured rights to eight of nine matches per game week for an annual cost of €400 million, while beIN Sports received rights to one match for €100 million.
– Canal+ did not participate in the bidding for these rights due to prior tensions with the Ligue de Football Professionnel, which favored Amazon over Canal+ after Mediapro’s exit in 2020.
